I’m Lady D! Welcome to Wild, Wonderful West Virginia and the inaugural year for
the Simply Jazz and Blues Festival. For the weekend of August 23-
The festival itself will take place at the scenic “Drift” located on the majestic New River. Other music venues in the area will be hosting live jazz and blues and of course there are plenty of outdoor activities and attractions in the area to help you plan a great vacation full of music and fun.
This festival is founded on the premise that W.Va. has woven a rich tapestry of music that includes jazz and blues. Now it’s time to share our treasures with the world and invite the world to enjoy what we have to offer.
West Virginia gave the world such artists as Bill Withers, Bobby Womack and Johnnie Johnson as well as many others. Southern W.Va. is home to the unique and popular arts center, Tamarack. It is a premier location for white water rafting, zip line adventure, hiking, camping and home to Theatre West Virginia which boast the longest running outdoor dramas in the country with “The Hatfields and McCoys” and “Honey In the Rock.” The list of things to see and do in southern W.Va. is a long one.
Along with our partners, the Charleston WV Blues Society and their Blues In the Schools program, we have a full schedule of top notch jazz and blues lined up...and in honor of our state's many great musicians, a portion of the festival proceeds will go to create the W.Va. Musician's Relief Fund.
So I’ll just simply say...
“Come to W.Va. and celebrate the inaugural Simply Jazz and Blues Festival!” “Come for the party, stay for the fun!”
